On this webpage, we provide information on the international certification systems, which have stricter standards than EU organic.
You may need these certification systems, if you want to transport organic products and sell them in certain countries.
The condition of applying for these international standards is usually the existence of a foreign purchaser/customer.
For deliveries/exports to those countries the compliance with of EU organic regulation is a precondition and on top of this the operation and the product must also comply with the requirements of the relevant international standard.
In the process of the certification, we help you walk through the process. Biokontroll provides information and in most cases, carries out the field inspections in cooperation with the international certification bodies. However, the other steps of the certification process are carried out by the international certification bodies, thus the certification decision is also made by them.

In the UK they are also operating an international standard, which requires compliance of surplus conditions on the top of EU organic requirements. You can have more information at the homepage below:
As a result of recent negotiations between the EU and third countries, the organic certification of certain third countries are recognised as equivalent to that of the EU, meaning that both parties accept each other’s organic products. Of course, this does not go without compliance with certain administrative requirements depending on the third country concerned:
The USA for instance is one of those third countries with established equivalency (US-EU Organic Equivalence Arrangement). For the purposes of exporting organic products to the USA the US authorities within the National Organic Program developed the Organic Integrity Database, which is an online tool. Colleagues within Biokontroll Hungaria Nonprofit Kft. obtain access to OID and are trained how to operate this system. One important element is that each consignment must obtain an NOP Import Certificate before shipment. For more information, contact our colleagues or navigate to the link below:
